I also like micro-scale stuff because it gives a much more realistic impression of the distances involved with modern weapons, and the minimal storage space requirement! So far, I have got myself stomped several times as the British commander using Blitzkrieg Commander! And Mick is one of those over achievers when it comes to getting the stuff out to you.
WWII: Micro Armor
Hi Henry, well you do play early Desert so getting stomped on as the Brit is historically up to the mark, tactically. I would get worried if it were consistently against an Italian Army. I like the early war British tanks even if they are a little clunky and have all the armour of a baked bean tin. BKC are good for Desert games, they can easily be made armour and artillery centric, and allow battalion and brigade attacks to play nicely, even on a relatively small table.
At 6 or 7 tanks to the squadron a large engagement can be fielded, and with some easily assimilated mechanisms play can be quite fast and brutal. I use the 1st and 2nd editions at 15 and 28mm. Would recommend Micro Melee from Britton Publishers. You know from my other comments I like Flames of War, with a few tweaks…. If you want the details of armor penetration, go for Tractics or ASL. If looking for platoon stand games as well then give Fistful of Tows a look. Despite the name it also covers WWII with data charts and tables of organization. It handles armored combat very well.
Not nearly as detailed as SK since it is platoon level of course.
Another good set for this level is Command Decision. Not quite as good as FFT3 for armor but it has an interesting take on command and control. We still play the 'Fire! Armor value versus gun penetration. Actual values were grouped into classes for easier and faster play.
So if a gun can penetrate a 3 class and the armor value is a 2, then a hit is made. No longer having to worry about failing by a couple of millimeters. Gotta plug our game….

Their helicopters use cast rotors, and are generally masterpieces, although the rotors tend to be a bit fragile. Most models they make are also made by GHQ, but not all such as many of the Soviet air defense units. CinC models ship in small plastic storage boxes, which make for great long-term storage.

Masters of Military represents the best of them. What's New October 30, Alright, it has been a while since I updated the site; the basic issue is that many of the models that I've been painting up are duplicates of those that I already have photos of. I was particularly impressed by the large number of poses, particularly the inclusion of excellent command figures and a ton of different engineers. Germany Lorraine 76mm? These models are truly noteworthy for several reasons -- first, they cover an interesting subject that has only been touched on lightly, and do so in great depth.

If you have any interest in the period, this is a must-have model. I'll also shortly be ordering the massive new Mi Halo, and expect it to be equally excellent.
