I also like micro-scale stuff because it gives a much more realistic impression of the distances involved with modern weapons, and the minimal storage space requirement! Hi Henry, well you do play early Desert so getting stomped on as the Brit is historically up to the mark, tactically. I would get worried if it were consistently against an Italian Army. I like the early war British tanks even if they are a little clunky and have all the armour of a baked bean tin. BKC are good for Desert games, they can easily be made armour and artillery centric, and allow battalion and brigade attacks to play nicely, even on a relatively small table.

At 6 or 7 tanks to the squadron a large engagement can be fielded, and with some easily assimilated mechanisms play can be quite fast and brutal. I use the 1st and 2nd editions at 15 and 28mm. Both cards had minor errors with regards to vehicle speeds. They are corrected now. If you have these cards in your collection you may want to download the revised versions and replace your cards. Make note that helicopters move in both phases of the turn, so movement allowances are per phase, not per turn.

Would recommend Micro Melee from Britton Publishers. You know from my other comments I like Flames of War, with a few tweaks…. If you want the details of armor penetration, go for Tractics or ASL. If looking for platoon stand games as well then give Fistful of Tows a look. Despite the name it also covers WWII with data charts and tables of organization. It handles armored combat very well.

Not nearly as detailed as SK since it is platoon level of course.

Another good set for this level is Command Decision. Not quite as good as FFT3 for armor but it has an interesting take on command and control. We still play the 'Fire! Armor value versus gun penetration. Actual values were grouped into classes for easier and faster play.

So if a gun can penetrate a 3 class and the armor value is a 2, then a hit is made. No longer having to worry about failing by a couple of millimeters. Gotta plug our game….

They have an excellent line of trucks for various nations which come in multiple parts and have a high level of detail.

Their infantry figures, while appropriately scaled, are really to thin to be of much utility. At the time of this writing, there are no new models being produced, although the existing line continues to be manufactured. Their helicopters use cast rotors, and are generally masterpieces, although the rotors tend to be a bit fragile. Most models they make are also made by GHQ, but not all such as many of the Soviet air defense units. CinC models ship in small plastic storage boxes, which make for great long-term storage.

Typically sold in packs representing a platoon-strength unit. They have, far and away, the most comprehensive range of modern micro armor of anyone out there.

Some pieces, such as their UK Saxons, are very good. Other, such as some of their French engineering vehicles, are a bit rough. Additionally, Scotia models seem to run small. December 15, A bit of a delay since the last update, but this is another big one. October 25, Alright, it has been a long time since the last update, but there are a lot of new photos. The Masters of Military version of the Czech Tatra was also added. On the more modern side, the UK 21st Century page has a slew on new vehicles, including the Ridgeback, Wolfhound and Bulldog Mk3, among others. Pretty limited updates on the WWII side.

July 22, GHQ has released its new list of models for the period, and there are a lot of fine selections. Ultimately, I hope that most will appear on this site, but my initial enthusiasm is for the addition of a range of modern Japanese vehicles, some much needed Russian particularly the SAWestern civilians, and the Leopard IIA4 of which I'll probably need about One other item of interest -- zombies! That gives me all sorts of thoughts on an operational-level zombie fighting game.

Of particularly note, the Chieftain Stillbrew is both much needed and very well done -- it fits in perfectly in both size and detail with related GHQ models. If you have any interest in the period, this is a must-have model. I'll also shortly be ordering the massive new Mi Halo, and expect it to be equally excellent.
